Harold E. Fleming

Harold E. Fleming, 86, of Van Wert, passed away at 12:35 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, at his residence.

Harold E. Fleming

He was born November 26, 1933, in Rockford, the son of Russell and Viola (Rickard) Fleming, who both preceded him in death. Harold went on to marry the former Catherine L. Armstrong, and she also preceded him in death.

A truck driver for Kennedy Manufacturing, Harold retired after 43 years of service.

Harold enjoyed woodworking crafts and making lawn ornaments, as well as working in the yard and completing landscaping projects. He often traveled to the various craft shows, flea markets, and trade shows and had an extensive die cast truck collection.

Harold liked to stay active. He could always be found walking the sidewalks of Van Wert or at Wendy’s, which he visited 4-5 times per week. He also loved to visit with neighbors and help others in need.

He is survived by his sons, Bruce (Elizabeth) Fleming of Scott, Andrew (Jennifer) Fleming of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Matthew Fleming of Van Wert, and Jerry (Leslie) Fleming of Kansas; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Three sisters also preceded him in death.

Because of national health concerns, Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory is following directives outlined by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine limiting attendance to the visitation and funeral service to immediate family only.

The funeral home will be providing webcasting of all funerals on its website: www.alspachgearhart.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Harold’s memory may be sent to Community Health Professionals Home Care and Hospice.

Condolences may be expressed at the above website.
