ADAMHS Bd. lists crisis coping resources

VW independent/submitted information

Because the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis can have an impact on local residents’ mental health, immediate support for those experiencing a mental health crisis can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling the Hopeline at 800.567.4673 or through the crisis text line at 741 741. In addition, local help is available through the Tri County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board, as well as Foundations Behavioral Health Services in Celina and Westwood Behavioral Health Center in Van Wert and Paulding.

Additional help is also available 24/7 from the Disaster Distress Helpline at 800.985.5990 and Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) at 800.950.6264.

During this challenging time, managing stress and staying connected to family and friends is critical. Those in need should reach out by phone or online and talk about how they are feeling. People should also check in with loved ones who may be alone and feeling distressed.

Those with mental health challenges should also limit time listening to coronavirus news updates and limit time on social media. They should also make exercise, staying hydrated, and eating well-balanced meals a priority. Maintaining a daily structure or routine to the best of one’s ability is equally important.

The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services is continually updating its set of resources for managing stress, mental health, and substance use care, as well as other information related to the coronavirus outbreak, at www.mha.ohio.gov/coronavirus
