CERT keeps busy…

At 7:50 a.m. Friday, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) was dispatched to a house fire in Willshire. Willshire, Wren, and Ohio City fire departments were on scene, with deputies from the Van Wert Sheriff’s Office doing traffic control. The fire left two adults homeless. CERT Director Mark Klausing noted that, with the current COVID-19-related limitations, CERT is only allowed to ask for monetary donations for the family. Clothing and household items cannot be accepted at this time. Area residents wanting to send monetary donations can do so to the Van Wert County Foundation, 138 E. Main St. in Van Wert. Following the house fire, CERT was called to help with traffic control for the United Way food distribution at the S.F. Goedde Building. CERT photos
