OHSAA sports update expected soon

An update on Ohio High School Athletic Association winter sports tournaments and perhaps spring sports could come today.
A memo sent Monday by OHSAA to the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association indicated an update would come in a day or two. The memo also said because of the “stay-at-home” order given by Governor Mike DeWine, any information would come in a press release instead of an in-person press conference.
Winter sports tournaments were put on hold on March 12 and last Thursday, OHSAA Executive Director Jerry Snodgrass held a media briefing to announce the tournaments would remain postponed for the time being. He acknowledged the window of opportunity to continue winter sports tournaments – regional boys basketball, girls state basketball, state wrestling and ice hockey – was closing rapidly.
Snodgrass also noted that spring sports practices remained on track to resume on Monday, April 6, as long as schools were back in session.
