Agency seeks volunteers for food handout

VW independent/submitted information

The United Way will continue the “grab & go” snack bag handout on Friday, April 3, from 3:30-5 p.m. Bags will be distributed again from all six locations: Van Wert, Willshire, Wren, Ohio City, Convoy, and Middle Point.

United Way is in need of volunteers throughout the week, beginning Thursday, April 2, to help with packing, making deliveries, and distributing food bags. The agency is following all CDC requirements by screening volunteers, having them fill out a questionnaire, and also doing a temperature reading. Shifts will have groups of 10 volunteers and United Way will follow the distancing requirements of 6 feet apart.

United Way prefers volunteers be at least 18 years of age. Those willing to help in this time of need should go to the United Way of Van Wert Facebook page and complete the post’s attached Google form. Those who sign up for a shift will be contacted the day before their shift to confirm and tell them where to report.

The United Way asks that those who have any signs of sickness refrain from volunteering at this time. For more information and updates, go to the agency’s Facebook page, call the United Way office at 419.238.6689, or email administration@uwvwco.org
