Nancy Szolach

Nancy Szolach, 76, passed away at Van Wert Health on Saturday, March 28, 2020. 

She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 23, 1944.  

Nancy had a long career with Kentucky Fried Chicken, retiring in 1998. She moved to Van Wert to be closer to her best friend and sister, Carol. Nancy was a very active member of the community. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Twigs, where she volunteered at the hospital thrift shop. She also volunteered her time at the YWCA as well. Nancy was a member of the Silver Sneakers program and loved to exercise at the YMCA. She enjoyed casino trips and bingo.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Julia Szolach; her brothers, Jim, Jerry, Joseph, and Gary Szolach; and her sister, Carol Fiegel.

She is survived by her nephews, Don (Nancy) Fiegel of New Knoxville and Ty (Nikki) Fiegel of Van Wert; two nieces, Dawn (Carl) Hoffman of Van Wert and Stacy (Brian) Miller of  Convoy; a brother-in-law, Gary “Buck” Fiegel; and many great-nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.  

Per her request, there will be no memorial service.

Preferred memorials: Van Wert Council on Aging or to the YWCA.
