Six hearings, including one arraignment, were held over the past week in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

Alcides Ordonez-Cruz, 27, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, pleaded not guilty to one count each of rape, a felony of the first degree; and gross sexual imposition and endangering children, each a third-degree felony offense.

Judge Martin D. Burchfield set a $500,000 cash bond in the case and scheduled a telephone pretrial conference for 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 8.

Judy Baker, 38, of Van Wert, admitted to violating her intervention in lieu of conviction program by not following her treatment program. Judge Burchfield placed her back on the intervention program for an additional year, beginning March 26.

Three people changed their pleas during hearings held in Common Pleas Court.

William Crutchfield, 47, of Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to one count of failure to provide the sheriff with notice of a change of address, a felony of the fourth degree. A presentence investigation was ordered by Judge Burchfield and sentencing scheduled for 10 a.m. June 24. He was released on an unsecured personal surety bond.

Johnathan Wells, 24, of Antwerp, changed his plea to guilty to one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the third degree. Wells was then sentenced to two years of community control, including 135 days in jail, with credit for 135 days already served; 100 hours of community service; and substance abuse and mental health assessments and any treatment recommended. Wells must also seek work and a seized firearm was forfeited by stipulation.

He also decided to change his plea to guilty to an amended charge of domestic violence, a misdemeanor of the first degree. He was then sentenced to 180 days in jail, with credit for 31 days already served.

Also this week, Anthony Hoskinson, 46, of Piqua, signed a waiver of his constitutional right to a speedy trial in on court, via video from the jail, and requested, and was granted, additional time to prepare his case. A pretrial conference was also set for 8:30 a.m. Friday, May 8.
