Girl who died in fatal shooting identified

MIDDLE POINT — Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach has identified the young girl who died in a fatal shooting in Middle Point last Thursday.

Killed in the incident was Aubrie Moore, 4, of 301 E. Lewis St., Apt. C, in Middle Point.

According to the sheriff, his office received a 9-1-1 call at 1:39 p.m. April 9 about a young girl with a gunshot wound. The child was transported by Middle Point EMS squad to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation, Sheriff Riggenbach said. Also involved in the initial investigation was the Van Wert County Coroner’s Office.
