Russell Melvin McIntosh

Russell Melvin McIntosh, 79, of Van Wert, passed away at 4:58 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2020, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

Russell Melvin McIntosh

He was born February 7, 1941, in Scott, the son of Glenn Melvin McIntosh and Alveria (Humbarger) McIntosh, who both preceded him in death. On December 12, 1961, he married the former Jeannette K. Rice, who passed away January 18, 2009. Together, they shared years of memories.

Russell retired from the United States Navy with 20 years of service to his country, included serving in Vietnam. He then retired as a truck driver from B & H Industries in Montpelier.

Russell was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4019 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Russell was very thankful of fellow truck drivers and military veterans for their service and dedication. He will be remembered as an excellent dad and his favorite saying, “Vote Republican”.

Surviving are his children, Victoria “Vicki” Sexton of Van Wert, Jeffery McIntosh of Montpelier, and John McIntosh of Ohio City; grandchildren, Krystal Miller, Tyler McIntosh, Rachel McIntosh, Kinzie Steube, Alexandria McIntosh, Brooke McIntosh, Jeffrey Miller, Richelle Miller, and Tonya Miller; two great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons. Grateful thanks to Russell’s estranged wife for her contributions to his care over the last nine years.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Curtis L. McIntosh.

Because of national health concerns, Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory and the McIntosh family are following directives outlined by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health to limit attendance to visitations and funeral services to only 10 immediate family members. Burial will follow in Blue Creek Cemetery in Haviland.
