Cougars, Lancers named to All-Ohio team

Three Van Wert Cougars have been named to prepbaseballreport.com’s preseason Division II All-Ohio team, while five Lincolnview Lancers earned the same honor in Division IV.

Van Wert junior Owen Treece was named to the Division II second team as pitcher. As a sophomore, Treece was 9-0 with a 1.14 ERA and 56 strikeouts.

Seniors TJ Reynolds and Keaton Brown were named to the honorable mention PBR team. Reynolds hit .313 last season, while Brown had a batting average of .393 and scored 23 runs in 2019.

Other Division II Western Buckeye League players earning preseason All-Ohio honors were Defiance’s Caden Kline (first team), Jacob Howard (second team), and David Jimenez (honorable mention); Elida’s Brayden Lybarger (first team), Jordan Davis (second team) and Luke Burger); Shawnee’s Logan Maxwell (first team), Jarin Bertke and Caden Vermillion (honorable mention) and Bath’s Blaine Albright (honorable mention).

Lincolnview sophomore pitcher Landon Price and junior Collin Overholt were named to the Division IV first team. Price went 4-0 last year with an ERA of 1.22 and 49 strikeouts. Overholt, who’s listed as a utility player, also went 4-0 on the mound last season and posted an ERA of 2.31 with 48 strikeouts.

Senior Gavin Carter was named to the PBR second team. As a junior, Carter hit .390 with 18 RBIs and 18 runs scored, and was 6-2 on the mound with 68 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.19.

Junior Creed Jessee and sophomore Cole Binkley received preseason honorable mention accolades.

Other area players named to the PBR preseason All-Ohio first team include Luke Krouse and Austin Lichty of Antwerp; Josh Thorbahn of Ottoville; Austin Brown of Minster, and Ryan Uhlenhake of St. Henry.

Second team honors went to Braden Langham of Hicksville; Shaun Thomas, Lima Central Catholic; Tyler Klausing, Kalida; Seth Stukey, Parkway; Jacob Savina, Antwerp, and Trent Lindeman, Delphos St. John’s.

Brady Rudasill, Owen Macke and Alex Schneider were named preseason honorable mention, along with Dylan Hines and Hunter Sproles, Antwerp; Josh Recker, Kalida; Ethan Lehmkuhl, Minster; Lincoln Mueller, Delphos St. John’s, and Jackson Bergman, Hicksville.
