United Way distributing youth snack bags

VW independent/submitted information

The United Way will be handing out “Grab & Go” snack bags again this Friday, April 24, from 3:30-5 p.m. Bags will be passed out again from all six locations, including Van Wert (S.F. Goedde Building at Jefferson Street gym entrances), Willshire, Wren, Ohio City, Convoy, and Middle Point (Amvets Post on Adams Street).

Claw’d the Cougar will be at the Van Wert location this week, so bring the kids and say “hi” to Claw’d!

Those who would like to volunteer can access the United Way of Van Wert Facebook page and complete the Google form attached to the post. Volunteers are needed Thursday, April 23, from 1-3 and 3-5 p.m., and Friday, April 24, from 2:30-5 p.m., to help with packing, making deliveries, and passing out food bags.

The United Way is following CDC requirements by screening all volunteers, having them fill out a questionnaire, and also doing a temperature reading. Shifts will have groups of 10 volunteers and volunteers will follow the distancing requirements of being 6 feet apart. The United Way prefers that volunteers be at least 18 years old, while all volunteers are now being asked to wear a face mask while helping out.

After signing up for a shift, the United Way will contact volunteers via email the day before their shift to confirm and let them know where to report.

The agency asks that if people refrain from volunteering if they have any signs of illness at this time. For more information and updates, keep an eye on the United Way Facebook page, call the United Way office at 419.238.6689, or email administration@uwvwco.org
