Lincolnview Local Schools Superintendent Jeff Snyder has a new five-year contract.

During Wednesday night’s monthly meeting held via Zoom video conferencing, the district’s Board of Education voted 4-1 to approve the contract, with board member Brad Coil casting the lone dissenting vote.

The new contract begins August 1, 2021, and runs through July 31, 2026.

“I want to thank the school board on the five year extension on my contract,” Snyder said after the meeting. “I am also honored, especially as a graduate of Lincolnview, to continue to serve the students, teachers, support staff, Board of Education and the Lincolnview community. We have accomplished so many great things over the past number of years, and I really am excited for the future of our district.”

Snyder told the board that graduation is set for Sunday, May 17, but he added that date is in jeopardy because of COVID-19.

“We have started creating a list of ideas of what it would look like if we couldn’t have a traditional ceremony in the high school gymnasium,” Snyder said. “We have reached out to our local health department and to ODE (Ohio Department of Education) for guidance on what that would look like and who is responsible for making that decision. That guidance will determine if we’re going to move the date back”

Snyder also noted that Senior Award Night, scheduled for May 11, has been canceled and said the goal is to still have prom, but it’s not yet known when it might be.

The board approved a list of 50 Lincolnview seniors for graduation, along with eight Marsh students, and the board passed a resolution designating May 4-8 as Teacher and Classified Staff Appreciation Week.

In other business, board members renewed membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association for the 2020-2021 school year, as well as an agreement with Van Wert City Schools for the Career Education Opportunity (CEO) program. The board also approved a motion seek bids for a new bus. A three-year agreement with Northwest Ohio Area Computer Services Cooperative was granted approval as well.

Snyder informed the board that work will continue on a new press box at the softball field and he said it won’t be long before the district asks for bids for the elementary expansion project.

“If they’re extremely high we can make the decision we’re going to postpone for a year and see what it looks like then,” Snyder said. “If they come back exactly what the architect said they might be, we can then move forward.”

Snyder also noted that food deliveries continue twice a week throughout the district.

The next meeting of the Lincolnview Local Schools Board of Education will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 28.
