Knights win low scoring game, Lancers fall

Crestview 41 Columbus Grove 32

COLUMBUS GROVE — Points were at a premium during Friday night’s Northwest Conference matchup between Crestview and Columbus Grove but after an 8-8 tie after the first quarter, the Knights outscored the Bulldogs in each of the three remaining quarters for a 41-32 win.

It was the fourth consecutive win by Crestview (5-1, 2-0 NWC), while Columbus Grove’s four game winning streak came to an end.

Crestview held Columbus Grove to just four points in the second quarter and led 17-12 at halftime and 25-18 after three quarters. The Knights scored 16 points in the final period, with 12 of those points coming from the foul line.

Mitch Temple led all scorers with 13 points, including 11 in the second half. Gavin Etzler hit a pair of treys in the opening quarter and was 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter for 11 points.

Bo Birnesser and Jackson Schroeder each finished with eight points for Columbus Grove (4-2, 1-1 NWC).

The Bulldogs will host Patrick Henry tonight and the Knights will entertain Delphos St. John’s on Wednesday.

Ottoville 53 Lincolnview 37

Ottoville’s Will Miller scored 28 points to lead the Big Green to a 53-37 win over Lincolnview Friday night.

Miller converted all 10 of his free throw attempts and pulled down seven rebounds in the win and as a team, Ottoville connected on 15 of 16 foul shots. In addition, the Big Green had just four turnovers in the game.

Ottoville charged out to a 17-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, then extended it to 31-15 at halftime. Each team scored 22 points in the second half.

Garrett Richardson led Lincolnview with 13 points, five rebounds and five assists while Daegan Hatfield had nine points. As a team, the Lancers 14-of-36 (36 percent) from the floor and 7-of-12 from the free throw line with 19 rebounds and 11 turnovers.

Ottoville was 16-of-45 (36 percent) from the floor and had 22 rebounds.

Both teams are back in action tonight. Lincolnview (1-3) will host Fort Jennings and Ottoville (5-4) will travel to Paulding.
