The 5-11 senior guard poured in a personal best 29 points to lead Lincolnview to a 60-47 win over Fort Jennings. The victory snapped a three-game losing streak.

17 of Richardson’s points came in the first half and he went on to finish 9-of-14 from the floor and 10-12 from the foul line.

“I thought Garrett was huge for us tonight,” Lincolnview head coach Brett Hammons said. “He was able to create for us and was able to get to the rim throughout the game, then he hit some big free throws down the stretch.”

Lincolnview (2-3) raced out to an 8-0 first quarter lead, then scored the final eight points of points of the quarter, including a buzzer beater by Richardson, to lead 21-10.

Nine of Lincolnview’s 15 second quarter points came from the free throw line and the hosts were able to push the lead to 36-20 at halftime.

Fort Jennings (1-6) was able to trim the deficit to seven, 40-33 late in the third quarter but the Lancers regrouped and made it 44-33 at the end of the period.

“I was very pleased with the effort that my guys gave,” Hammons said. “They really wanted to get a win at home and they were able to get it. We were able to do a better job of making shots tonight and I think that helped with our players confidence.”

Landon Price finished with 13 points for the Lancers. As a team, Lincolnview was 19-of-47 from the floor and 17-of-22 from the free throw line with 22 rebounds and just seven turnovers.

Fort Jennings was 19-of-45 shooting but just 3-of-11 from the foul line, with 26 rebounds and only eight turnovers. The Musketeers were led by Jarron Swick, who scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds and Nick Trentman, who finished with 10 points.

Fort Jennings will host Ayersville on Tuesday and will travel to Temple Christian on Thursday, while the Lancers will play on back-to-back nights, Wednesday at Kalida and Thursday at home against Upper Scioto Valley.
