VWPD investigating S. Tyler St. break-in

The Van Wert Police Department is investigating an early morning break-in and assault and is asking for the public’s help.

The police department received a 911 call from the residents of a home at 335 1/2 South Tyler St. at 12:10 a.m. Monday. They said their home had been broken into and two occupants had been assaulted and held at gunpoint by at least three people. One of the residents was later taken to the hospital for medical treatment. 

The police department was assisted at the scene by members of the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office and their K-9 as well as the Ohio State Highway Patrol. 

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the police department. Anyone with camera systems in the area are also asked to check their cameras to see if it can assist in the investigation.
