Shirley A. Flickinger

Shirley A. Flickinger, 85, of Van Wert, passed away at Van Wert Health on Sunday, July 10, 2022. 

She was born on November 6, 1936, in Van Wert to Harland Howard Kiracofe and Margaret E. (Bolenbaugh) Kiracofe, who both preceded her in death. She married John C. Flickinger May 15, 1965, and he preceded her in death on May 8, 1993.

Family survivors include, Rita A. (Richard) Carter of Van Wert, Ray A. Hire of Convoy, Connie S. (Gary) Kreischer of Convoy, Karen R. Ladd of Ottoville, Kelly J. (Candy) Hire of Van Wert, Kristine K. (Kevin Fisher) Hegemier of Van Wert, Michael J. (Alana) Flickinger of Venedocia, Ricky L. Flickinger of Decatur, Indiana, and Connie M. Bird of Celina; thirty-five grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; one brother, Larry Kiracofe of Van Wert, and two sisters, Brenda (Cecil) Foust and Judy M. Foust both of Convoy. 

She was preceded in death by her two children, Deborah K. Dickerhoof and John C. Flickinger, Jr.; two brothers, Bruce Kiracofe and Ronald Dale Kiracofe (in infancy) and one sister, Margie Joann Darling.  

Shirley was a graduate of Convoy-Union High School. She started out as a teacher’s aide at Lincolnview Elementary and then became the elementary secretary and retired after 30 ½ years there. She loved doing ancestry and had many pictures that she liked organizing and putting in photo albums, especially to give to all of her grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, with one hour of calling ahead of services on Thursday with Rev. Gerald Baker officiating. Interment will take place at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
