Bowling: VW’s Hammond to state

PORT CLINTON — Van Wert finished third in a tough district, trailing only Wapakoneta and Ashland at the Division I district bowling tournament at Star Lanes at the Harbor in Port Clinton on Saturday.

Sophomore Mercades Hammond qualified for state as an individual after playing second with a 593 series. Seniors Ryleigh Hanicq finished with a 486 series and Makenna Nagel rolled a 484 series.

The OHSAA Division I Girls State will be held at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl at 10:45 a.m. Ticket sales are being sold online only at https://www.ohsaa.org/tickets.
