Random Thoughts: Ada, Bronny, more

The latest installment of Random Thoughts includes good luck wishes, Ada, LeBron James Jr., the Oakland A’s, the Mad Ants and a non-sports thought.

Good luck

Best of luck to all spring sports teams as they head off to postseason play. It’s hard to believe it’s already time for that but here we are. It’s also hard to believe that in roughly a month, the entire 2023-2024 sports season will be done.

Ada

In case you missed the recent announcement, Ada is indeed leaving the Northwest Conference and will join the Blanchard Valley Conference. Ada is expected to remain a member of the NWC for the 2023-2024 school year.

It’ll be interesting to see what, if anything, the NWC does to fill the spot. I can think of a good fit or two but I’m not sure if there’s mutual interest. Time will tell.

Bronny

It seems some people are upset that LeBron James’ son Bronny is going to USC rather than Ohio St.

I’m okay with it. Nothing against the kid…I wish him well but it’s going to be an absolute circus each and every game. Would anyone really want that at Ohio St.?

Oakland A’s

How can you not feel bad for Oakland A’s fans? Their team was 8-27 entering Monday night. This is a historically bad baseball team and oh yes…the franchise is leaving Oakland for Las Vegas.

Mad Ants

I’m sorry to see the Mad Ants leave Fort Wayne, but I guess it’s not a big surprise.

The announcement came Monday that the team is moving to Noblesville, Indiana and will play in a newly built arena during the 2024-2025 season. It doesn’t appear the Mad Ants will play any of their games in Fort Wayne during the upcoming season. Instead, games will be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Pacers.

Boardwalk Empire

I know it’s been off the air for nearly 10 years now but I’m finally watching the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. All I can say is wow, what a great show. Very well done. I’m only sorry I waited this long to watch it. It’s certainly not for everyone and I would highly discourage watching it with young children around.
