Wayne Trace 10 Crestview 1

CONVOY — Wayne Trace was simply too much for Crestview on Saturday.

Cooper Wenzlick struck out 15 and held the Knights to just two hits, as the Raiders rolled to a 10-1 victory.

Trailing 5-0, Nate Lichtle drove in Levi Grace in the bottom of the third for Crestview’s lone run of the game. Carson Hunter had Crestview’s other hit and he pitched three innings and gave up five runs (two earned) on three hits with five strikeouts and four walks. Lichtle pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits and Bryson Penix pitched the remaining 1 1/3 inning and allowed two runs on four hits.

Cole Winans, Kyle Slade and Tyler Davis each drove in two runs for the Raiders (17-5).

Crestview (12-5) will host Woodlan on Tuesday.

Softball

Fairview 7 Lincolnview 4

SHERWOOD — Lincolnview hung with the No. 3 team in Division III but Fairview was able to score late for a 7-4 victory over the Lancers on Saturday.

The Apaches led 2-1 after the first inning and 4-1 after two. A two-run home run by Lainey Spear in the fifth trimmed it to 4-3, but Fairview answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Lincolnview scored again in the sixth.

Spear led Lincolnview with two hits, a double and a home run, and three RBIs, while Makayla Jackman had three hits and drove in a run. Sydney Fackler also had two hits and pitched four innings and allowed seven runs (four earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts.

The Lady Lancers will face Continental in the Division IV district semifinals at 4 p.m. today at Elida. The game was originally scheduled for 6 p.m.
