Busy week in Common Pleas Court

A number of hearings were held in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court this past week.

Bond violations

Kyle Jacks, 33, of Delphos, admitted to violating his bond by failing to report to probation. Judge Martin Burchfield set new bond at $50,000 cash or surety with electronic house arrest if released. At a later hearing, Jacks changed his plea to guilty to an amended indictment of domestic violence, a first degree misdemeanor. Sentencing was scheduled for 9 a.m. November 22.

Zachariah Germann, 35, of Ohio City, admitted to violating his bond by failing to report to probation. New bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety with electronic house arrest if released. A pre-trial conference was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. November 15.

Bobby Burnett, 29, of Van Wert, admitted to violating his bond by failing to report to probation. New bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety, and a pre-trial conference was scheduled for 10 a.m. November 8.

Arraignment

Daniel Lehmkuhle III, 25, of Delphos, entered a not guilty plea to burglary, a second degree felony, and trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, a fourth degree felony. He was released on a surety bond and a pre-trial conference was scheduled for 8 a.m. November 22.

Sentencings

Eugene Munsen Jr., 40, of Van Wert, was sentenced to three years of community control and 30 days in jail at a later date for tampering with evidence, a third degree felony, and aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony. In addition, he is to have no alcohol or drugs without a prescription, undergo random screens, mental health and substance abuse assessment and treatment, and was ordered to pay partial appointed counsel fees, monthly probation fees and court costs.

Tyler Paxson, 28, of Van Wert, was sentenced to 8-12 years in prison for felonious assault, a second degree felony, and 18 months for trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, a fourth degree felony. The sentences will run concurrently and he was given credit for 154 days already served and was ordered to pay court costs.

Plea changes

Joseph Black, 58, of Watertown, changed his plea to guilty to aggravated possession of drugs, a third degree felony. He requested and was granted intervention in lieu of conviction and his case was stayed pending completion of the treatment program.

Tommie Grieshaber, 53, of Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to domestic violence, a fourth degree felony. Judge Burchfield ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for 9 a.m. November 29.

Dustin Cooper, 39, of Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to OVI, a fourth degree felony. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered and sentencing was scheduled for 10 a.m. November 29.

Cody Gheen, 28, of Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty of aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth degree felony. He requested and was granted intervention in lieu of conviction and his case was stayed pending completion of the treatment program.

In a case heard by Judge Jeffrey Ingraham, Stephen Barnhart, 29, of Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to domestic violence, endangering children, both first degree misemeanors. A pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for 9 a.m. November 29.

Time waiver

Frank Ross Jr., 55, of Middle Point, signed a time waiver in open court and requested additional time to prepare his case. A pre-trial conference was set for 9 a.m. November 8.
