Boys roundup: Cougars, Lancers fall

St. Henry 74 Van Wert 39

Led by Evan Bowers and Luke Beyke, St. Henry defeated Van Wert 74-39 at the Cougar’s Den on Saturday.

Bowers scored 13 of his 21 points in the second half and Beyke scored eight of his 16 points in the third quarter. Hayden Boeckman added 10 points, with eight coming in the second half, as the Redskins (15-4) outscored the Coguars 46-30 after halftime.

Keaten Welch led Van Wert (3-17) with 12 points and Colin Haggerty added eight.

Van Wert will host Elida in the home finale on Friday, while St. Henry will entertain Parkway the same night.

Paulding 55 Lincolnview 47

Paulding had three players in double figures and the Panthers topped Lincolnview 55-47 at Lincolnview High School on Saturday.

Casey Agler led all scorers with 16 points, Grady Barton finished with 13 pionts and Kane Jones added 12 points and eight rebounds. Blake Rhonehouse just missed double digits and finished with nine points. The Panthers led 14-9 after one quarter, 21-13 at halftime and 35-23 after three quarters.

Cal Evans led Lincolnview with 14 points, including 12 in the second half. Chayse Overholt and Max Hammons each added nine points for the Lancers (4-15).

Both teams will face in-county rivals on Friday. Lincolnview will host Crestview and Paulding (11-7) will travel to Wayne Trace.
