Recap: Lancers rally for big win

Lincolnview 9 Leo (IN) 8

No. 8 Lincolnview rallied from an 8-0 deficit for an improbable 9-8 win over Leo on Monday.

The Lancers trailed by eight entering the bottom of the sixth but plated four runs, including an RBI single by Ashlyn Price, a two RBI single by Sydney Fackler and a run on a passed ball. Lincolnview then scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh. Ashlyn Price doubled in Lainey Spear, Kassidy Hammons scored on a grounder by Fackler and Sylvia Longstreth doubled home Keira Breese. Longstreth tied the game 8-8 when she scored on a single by Taylor Post, then Addysen Stevens delivered the game winner – a two-out walk-off double that scored Post.

Price and Grace Brickner each had three hits for Lincolnview and Stevens and Fackler each had two. Fackler finished with a team high three RBI.

Lincolnview (6-1) is slated to play at Ottoville on Wednesday.

Crestview 16 Columbus Grove 5 (five innings)

CONVOY — Crestview’s bats came alive during Monday’s five inning, 16-5 win over Columbus Grove.

Lydia Grace led the Knights by going 3-3 at the plate with two doubles and four RBI. Katie Sawmiller was 2-3 with a triple and three RBI, Dakota Thornell was 3-4, Kaci Gregory was 1-3 with two RBI and Allie Thatcher had a double. Sawmiller picked up the win on the mound.

Crestview (3-6) is scheduled to play at Wayne Trace on Wednesday.

Antwerp 9 Van Wert 4

ANTWERP — In an error filled game, Antwerp defeated Van Wert 9-4 on Monday. Each team finished the game with seven errors.

Three of Van Wert’s runs came in the third inning, including an RBI single by Alexis Pangle.

Van Wert will host Defiance today.

Baseball

Crestview 2 Columbus Grove 1

CONVOY — Preston Kreischer allowed just two hits, struck out 11 Bulldog batters and had no walks, and Crestview defeated Columbus Grove 2-1 on Monday.

Ayden Hyitt scored on a wild pitch in the second inning, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead, then Zaine Cereghin singled and drove in Bryson Penix in the third. Columbus Grove’s lone run came on a ground ball out in the fifth.

Crestview finished with two hits in the game, singles by Hyitt and Cereghin.

Crestview (6-0) is scheduled to play at Van Wert on Wednesday.

Wayne Trace 11 Van Wert 9

HAVILAND — Van Wert led 7-1 entering the bottom of the second inning, but Wayne Trace scored five runs, then added three more in the third and went on to defeat the Cougars 11-9 on Monday.

Brylen Parker’s grand slam home run in the second gave Van Wert a 6-1 lead. Kyle Forrer homered for Wayne Trace, a solo shot in the sixth. Cooper Wenzlick led the Raiders with two hits and three RBI.

Van Wert (3-5) is scheduled to play at Defiance today, while Wayne Trace (6-4) will travel to Ayersville.

Lincolnview 6 Ayersville 1

Lincolnview erased a 1-0 deficit with four runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth and the Lancers improved to 6-3 with a 6-1 lead over Ayersville on Monday.

A double by Jack Dunlap drove in Chayse Overholt and Holden Price in the fifth, Myles Moody doubled in Conlan Hatfield, then Moody scored on an RBI single by Aiden Hardesty. In the sixth inning, Austin Bockrath singled in Overholt and Price. Price finished with three hits, including a triple, while Moody and Hardesty each had two.

Dunlap earned the complete game victory by scattering four hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking just one.

The Lancers are scheduled to travel to Spencerville on Thursday.
