Lincolnview enjoys Saturday sweep

Playing at home on Saturday, Lincolnview’s baseball and softball teams cruised to five winning, 10-0 inning victories.

The baseball team’s win clinched an outright NWC championship, the fourth consecutive outright conference title for the Lancers. Lincolnview has gone 32-0 in NWC play since the 2021 season.

It was also the third straight shoutout victory of the week for the Lancers (16-6, 8-0 NWC). Chayse Overholt earned the win by going four innings, allowing three hits while striking out eight and walking two. Aiden Hardesty pitched the remaining inning and fanned one.

A first inning RBI single by Myles Moody scored Overholt, then Hardesty ripped a third inning triple that scored Moody and Austin Bockrath. Reide Jackson plated Hardesty with a single, then Jackson’s fifth inning two RBI single allowed Bockrath and Hardesty to score. Luke Bollenbacher then singled in Jackson, giving Lincolnview a 7-0 lead.Bollenbacher later scored on a passed ball then Holden Price singled home Seth Brant. The Lancers capped off the six run inning when Overholt scored on a sacrifice fly by Jack Dunlap.

Jackson led Lincolnview with two hits, three RBI and two runs scored, while Hardesty had a pair of hits, two RBI and scored two runs. Bockrath also had two hits and scored two runs.

The Lancers will host Kalida today.

Meanwhile, Taylor Post put on a show on the mound by pitching a no-hitter and a near perfect game, as the Lancer softball team improved to 21-4 (7-0 NWC) with a five inning 10-0 win over Leipsic on Saturday. Post struck out eight Viking batters and walked one in the win.

Five of Lincolnview’s runs came in the first inning, followed by two more in the second, one in the third and two in the bottom of the fifth.

Lainey Spear and Allie Miller each drove in two runs and Sydney Fackler led Lincolnview with three hits. Fackler, Addysen Stevens, Grace Brickner, and Emma Bowersock each had an RBI.

Lincolnview is scheduled to play Columbus Grove in the Division IV district semifinals at 4 p.m. today at Elida, then will wrap up NWC play at home against Ada on Tuesday. A victory would give the Lancers an outright conference title,
