Gerald E. “Gary” Miller
Gerald E. “Gary” Miller, 70, of Lakeview and formerly of Van Wert, passed away at 11:38 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at his residence.
He was born in Van Wert on January 12, 1954, to Purl and Betty (Davis) Miller, who both preceded him in death. On July 31, 1976, he married Susan (Hoblet) Miller, and she survives.

He is also survived by several grandchildren and nieces; brother-in-law, Brent (Renee) Hoblet; sisters-in-law, Jan Hoblet and Becky Hoblet, and a nephew, Ben (Shea) Hoblet.
In addition to his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Randy Hoblet and Jim Hoblet.
Gary was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Buckeye Big Buck Club for 33 years. During his time, he served on the board of directors, was chairman of the board for one year, vice president, and was also the club historian. In 1989, Gary recorded a 12-point buck, one of the largest for that time in Van Wert County. In 1990, he became an official scorer for the Buckeye Big Buck Club and remained one until his passing. Being a scorer was one of Gary’s greatest joys. He also loved to go fishing out his front door on Indian Lake. Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
