Bates, Bollenbacher place for Van Wert

DEFIANCE — The Van Wert Cougar wrestling team competed in the Defiance Tri-State Border Wars tournament at Defiance High School on Friday and Saturday.

Van Wert finished in 25th place in the 51 team field. The Cougars were led by Owen Bates who finished in sixth place in the 106 pound weight class, and Breese Bollenbacher, who also placed sixth in the 285 pound weight class.

The Cougars will return action on January 9 when they travel back to Defiance to face the Bulldogs in a WBL dual match.
