Youtsey leads Lancers to victory

BLUFFTON — Jaden Youtsey did it all for Lincolnview during Wednesday’s 11-1 Northwest Conference baseball win at Bluffton.

The junior pitched all seven innings and recorded 14 strikeouts, while holding the Pirates to just three hits. At the plate, Youtsey was 3-4 with a double and a solo home run, three RBI and three runs scored.

The Lancers put the game away early with four runs in the first inning and two more in the second.

Youtsey opened the scoring with a single to center field that plated Chayten Overholt, then a two out double to left by Collin Overholt scored Youtsey and Gavin Carter. Creed Jessee’s RBI single scored Overholt for the final run of the inning.

Youtsey’s second RBI of the game came in the second inning on a single that allowed Chayten Overholt to score, the Youtsey crossed home plate on a two out RBI single by Carter.

Bluffton scored a run in the bottom of the third and the score remained 6-1 until the top of the fifth inning, when a single by Thad Walker scored Carter.

Youtsey’s home run to left center came in the top of the sixth to make it 8-1, then the Lancers scored three more runs in the seventh. Jessee singled in Ethan Kemler from second base, Walker scored Collin Overholt, then Braxton Fox plated Jessee.

Lincolnview finished the game with 17 hits, including three by Youtsey and Carter, and two by Chayten and Collin Overholt, and Jessee.

The Lancers (16-3, 6-1 NWC) tied a school record for wins and maintained a share of first in the conference with Crestview and Delphos Jefferson.

Weather permitting, Lincolnview will host Paulding today.
