Cougars start well at WBL meet

OTTAWA — Van Wert enjoyed a good showing during the opening day of the Western Buckeye League track and field meet at Ottawa-Glandorf High School.
During Wednesday’s events, Austin Clay placed first in the shot put (56-6.25), while Eli Rager earned top honors in the long jump (20-11.75). The 4×800 meter relay team of Thane Cowan, Holden Reichert, Jacob Wasson and Stephen Hamblett finished third (8:29.95)
Van Wert’s Kirsten Clay won the discus throw (127-5), and the 4×800 meter relay team of Jerica Hubner, Nicole Clay, Julia Springer and Cassidy Meyers placed third (10:13.70).
The WBL meet will resume today at 4:30 p.m.
