Farm Bureau, SWCD to have joint event

The Van Wert Farm Bureau and Van Wert Soil & Water Conservation District are co-hosting a fun- and award-filled evening on Tuesday, August 7, at Hickory Sticks Golf Club south of Van Wert.
The banquet will begin at 5:30 p.m. with registration and the election of two people to the SWCD Board of Supervisors. Dinner, catered by Gibson’s Barnyard BBQ, will be served at 6 that evening.
The “Soil & Water Conservation Farmer” will be recognized, as well as several scholarship recipients from both groups. Warren Reed will also be inducted into the Van Wert County Ag Hall of Fame.
Ty Higgins, ag radio broadcaster for Ohio Ag Net, will entertain with stories entitled “What Would Grandpa Do? Using Lessons from the Past to Move Agriculture Forward.”
Tickets are $5 and available at the SWCD, 1185 Professional Drive in Van Wert, and the Farm Bureau, 109 W. Sycamore St. in Columbus Grove. Deadline to purchase tickets is Monday, July 30.
