Lady Cougars fall to Lima CC 50-45

LIMA — A 10 point first quarter deficit came back to haunt Van Wert in a 50-45 non-conference girls basketball loss at Lima Central Catholic on Monday.

Trailing 20-10 after the first period, the Lady Cougars outscored the hosts 16-6 in the second quarter to tie the game 26-26 at halftime. However, Lima Central Catholic enjoyed an 11-7 third quarter scoring advantage and led 37-33 at the end of the period.

Sierra Shaffer led Van Wert with 14 points, Abby Jackson scored nine and Alexis Metz and Allison Schaufelberger each tallied eight.

Van Wert (5-15) will finish the regular season at Celina on Thursday.
