New recorder sworn in

Van Wert County Common Pleas Judge Charles D. Steele (left) administers the oath of office to newly-appointed County Recorder Kim Hughes, while Hughes’ husband looks on. Hughes, who has 11 years experience as a deputy recorder, was appointed Thursday by the County Republican Central Committee to replace Jan McIntosh, who retired after more than 30 years in the recorder’s office, seven of those as recorder.
