Carl S. Kohorst

Carl S. Kohorst, 85, of Van Wert, died at 10:52 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born February 4, 1926, in Delphos, the son of the late Frank and Ethel (Harris) Kohorst.

On May 16, 1947, he married Dorothy (Becker) Kohorst, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include two children, Michael R. (Cindy) Kohorst and Beth (Ron) Goleman, both of Van Wert; three sisters, Ruth Kemper, Betty Bridgeman and Margie Kohorst, all of Delphos; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Five brothers, Harold, Richard, Delmar, Eugene and Donald Kohorst; and two sisters, Rose Carmean and Violet Carmean, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 .m. Thursday, August 18, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Revs. Jay Nesselroad and Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with graveside military rites performed.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, at the funeral home.
