Helen E. Griffis

Helen E. Griffis, 80, of Haviland, died Sunday, August 14, 2011, at her residence.

She was born October 13, 1930, in Haviland, the daughter of the late Rev. Howard J. and Alice (Holmes) Tomlinson. On January 9, 1949, she married Burns L. Griffis, who preceded her in death on September 11, 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Wade (Susan) Grifffis of Jenson, Mich., and Hugh (Anita) Griffis of Tipp City; a daughter, Paula (David) Alderfer of Rock Hill, S.C.; one sister, Carolyn Joan (Lester) Sherer of Haviland; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A brother, Dr. Harold E. Tomlinson, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 18, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding. Burial will be in Blue Creek Cemetery near Haviland.

Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, and an hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
