On Friday, December 10, 150 sixth-, seventh- and eighth graders from Van Wert Middle School were given an afternoon out of class to attend a movie at Van Wert Cinemas.

The movie and time out of class was their reward for earning a Gold or Red Renaissance card for the first trimester of the 2010-2011 school year. Renaissance cards are earned based on attitude, attendance and academic criteria.

The movie at Van Wert Cinemas was free to the students due to the generosity of many Van Wert area businesses that have donated toward the Van Wert Middle School Renaissance Program. The 51 sponsoring businesses are listed on the VWMS webpage linked to http://vanwertcougars.net.

The 131 students who earned a Gray Renaissance card were treated to an afternoon out of class to attend a movie shown in the Niswonger Performing Arts Center Music Hall.

VWMS students are currently working toward their second trimester Renaissance card.
