Natural gas leak forces city evacuations
Business and homes in an area around the intersection of Ervin Road and Shannon Street were evacuated for approximately five hours Wednesday after workers installing utility lines in the intersection hit and broke a natural gas pipeline, causing a massive leak that took approximately five hours to repair.
Repairs were largely completed by around 7:30 Wednesday evening by Dominion workers, but no information was available early this morning on when service was restored to customers without natural gas in the area.
