Dolores M. Pelmear

Dolores M. Pelmear, 78, of Fort Wayne, Ind., died on Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.

Born in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Maria Luscalzo. During the 1940s and 1950s, she was an opera singer on an ABC radio show. She was an active member, along with her husband, at The Cross Church on Winchester Road. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a 12-year breast cancer survivor.

She is survived by a son, Doug Pelmear of Napoleon; two daughters, Deb Pelmear of Fort Wayne and Sheila Kay of Las Vegas, Nev.; one brother, Benjamin (Laila) Luscalzo Jr. of Chicago; granddaughters Brandy Stemen of San Diego, Calif., Crystal (Jason) Boroff of Ohio City, eight other grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of over 54 years Donald D. Pelmear, Sr. in 2004 and a son, Donald D. Pelmear, Jr. in 1995.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 19, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road in Fort Wayne. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.

Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, August 18, and an hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the family.
