Cougar golfers beat Kenton in WBL match
Van Wert varsity golfers hosted Kenton on a beautiful afternoon at Willow Bend Country Club and came out on top, 154-193, moving the Cougars to 2-0 in the Western Buckeye League title chase.

Junior Jacob Brake was the medalist, firing a one-over-par 36. Brake started slow, bogeying the first two holes, but rebounded with six pars and a birdie to grab the top spot. Close behind was senior Matt Cucciarre, 37; senior Vince Moreland, 40; and junior Tyler Turnwald, 41. Sophomore Adam Jurczyk turned in a personal best effort of 42, while freshman Brandon Hernandez shot a 47. Kenton’s lead man was Damon Rall, who shot a 44.
The first home match brought out plenty of Cougar golf fans, which was greatly appreciated by the Van Wert varsity and junior varsity golf squads. The Cougar JVs were also victorious and were led by Justin Price (47) and Connor Mosier (47).
The Cougars will be in action again Monday at Northmoor Country Club in St. Marys to take on the Roughriders in another WBL match-up.
