The Western Buckeye Educational Service Center Governing Board approved a number of personnel actions and also heard updates on the center’s new website and an auction being held later this month to sell the Van Wert ESC office building.
Superintendent Brian Gerber first updated the board on the sale of the Van Wert ESC office, which is to be sold at auction at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, at the building site.
He then talked about the WBESC’s new website, which includes information on partner schools, services, professional development, online learning, alternative education, Early Childhood programs, therapy programs, grants, teacher, parent and fiscal resources, fingerprinting and links to related sites.
Gerber thanked Website Committee members for their input into the project and especially thanked Technology Coordinator Matt Krites for the time and energy he put into collecting information and data from the Technology Committee to construct a website that was “alive, useful and full of resources and updated information.”
“Matt knew this was a priority and he worked very hard to make our vision a reality,” Gerber added.
Treasurer Gary Ginter also reviewed current financial reports and monthly expenditures with the board.
Personnel action included accepting the resignations of Brenda Ward as an occupational therapist assistant, Janine Warnecke as an occupational therapist and Tiffany Grindstaff as an LPN aide.
One-year contracts were also given to Katie Perkins as a preschool intervention specialist, Jeana Fisher as a physical therapist’s assistant, Nicole Jefferson as an occupational therapist’s assistant, and Laura Grant as an LPN aide.
The board also adjusted Peg Schilb’s contract as curriculum and instruction coordinator to 108 days, per her request, and Christine Feichter’s contract for the same services to 120 days, proportionate to grant funding for the position.
Substitute teacher and employee rates were approved, as well as the Van Wert Area Schools Insurance Group’s four-tier health and dental insurance premiums.
A number of items were also approved for the Paulding County Family and Children First program and the Northwest Ohio Area Computer Services Cooperative.
