Mary Marguerite “Tuts” Rahrig, 101, of Van Wert, passed away at 11:25 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Hearth & Home in Van Wert.

She was born April 18, 1918, in Washington Township, the daughter of Arnold Mathias and Mary Elizabeth (Ruen) Nagel, who both preceded her in death. 

Tuts worked for many years in the sewing room of The Marsh Foundation. She was a longtime member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, where she was active in the Rosary and Alter Society. Tuts also volunteered her time making and serving the church funeral meals.  
She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing cards, and being able to live life on her farm for as long as she did.

She is survived by her sons, David (Kathryn) Rahrig of Galena, Steven (Becky) Rahrig of Van Wert, and Russell (Ginger) Rahrig of Van Wert; a brother, James Falke of Springfield; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Also preceded her in death was her husband, Harlan Rahrig, who died in 1964; five brothers; and two sisters. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 23, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father Stanley Szybka, celebrant. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert. 

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 22, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tuts’ memory may be sent to St. Mary’s Catholic School or the church.
