Van Wert independent sports

It was a tale of two halves at Lincolnview High School on Saturday, with the Lancers dominating the first half and visiting Ottoville rallying in the second half. When all was said and done, the Big Green posted a 51-47 win.

Lincolnview stunned the visitors with a 20-6 lead at the end of the quarter, with Landon Price pouring in all eight of his points and Creed Jessee and Jake Bowersock scoring six apiece. Bowersock eventually finished with 12, while Jessee tallied 11.

The Lancers went on to lead 30-12 at the half, but Ottoville enjoyed a 17-6 third quarter scoring advantage and trailed 36-29 entering the final period. That’s where the Big Green won the game, outscoring Lincolnview 22-11. At point point, the Lancers were ahead 46-36, but Ottoville closed the game on a 15-1 scoring run, including the final five points of the contest. Josh Thorbahn scored seven of his game high 17 points during the run.

Joseph Miller and Trae Schlagbaum each scored nine for Ottoville (7-3) on a sluggish shooting night (31 percent). Lincolnview shot 59 percent from the field but was plagued by 22 turnovers.

The Lancers (4-3) will host Upper Scioto Valley on Friday and will travel to Fort Recovery on Saturday.
