Joseph W. Pratt

Joseph W. Pratt, 83, of Scott, died at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Vancrest Health Care Center of Convoy.

He was born August 19, 1928, the son of the late LeRoy and Elsie (Brown) Pratt. On May 18, 1947, he married Cydona I. (Jewell) Pratt, who preceded him in death on June 2, 1995.

Survivors include five children, James (Linda) Blythe of Toledo, Joan (Jerry) Tope of Paulding, Dennis “Buck” (Sandi) Pratt of Fort Jennings, Rocksannna (Terry) Daniels of Broughton and Stan (Deb) Pratt of Scott; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Blythe of Van Wert; one son-in-law, Larry Phillips of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; a brother, Albert Pratt of Oakwood; one sister, Alma Rhodes of Grover Hill; 17 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

Two children, Gerald “Butch” Blythe and Beverly I. Phillips; five brothers, Jason, David, Delmar, Paul and Rolland Pratt; seven sisters, Edna Pratt, Grace McCague, Alice Fulmer, Eleanor Runion, Ida Wyatt, Norma Showalter and Bonnie Gifford; and two grandchildren, Mark A. Blythe and Cory L. Pratt, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 4, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will be in Scott Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, September 3, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Vancrest Health Care Center of Convoy or St. Rita’s Medical Center Hospice.
