ODOT lists Labor Day highway projects
COLUMBUS — With an estimated 1.3 million Ohioans traveling this Labor Day weekend, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) reminds motorists: “Every Move You Make, Keep It Safe.”
According to ODOT safety experts, more than 2,400 Ohio drivers were involved in crashes during the 2010 holiday weekend, with nearly 30 percent of the crashes occurring Friday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
In addition, an 11-year analysis (2000-2010) of Labor Day crashes reveals that it is the deadliest holiday weekend of the year, with 187 fatalities on Ohio roads.
To help motorists plan their trip, ODOT provides a list of ongoing construction projects from around the state that could impact weekend travel. For a complete list of all major construction projects, visit www.buckeyetraffic.org.
