More local events canceled, postponed

More postponements of local events have been announced to meet Governor Mike DeWine’s ban on events of more than 100 people.

In accordance with state efforts to slow the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus, the 2020 Peony Pageant scheduled for Friday, April 3, will be postponed until further notice. 

Tickets will not be sold at this time; however, any tickets that have been purchased may be honored at a later date. 

“The Van Wert Peony Festival is considering our community’s safety in this difficult time,” said Pageant Director Kyle Mills. 

Any future updates on the event will be determined as needed and relayed to the public as it develops and decisions are made.

At an emergency meeting held Sunday, Venedocia Lions Club has decided to postpone its Pancakes & Sausage Day originally scheduled for Saturday, March 21. Plans are to reschedule at a later date. 

The Van Wert High School Class of 1963 is cancelling its March supper and will be meeting on Tuesday, April 28, at the Black Angus on Main at 4:45 p.m.

Those wanting to attend should contact Bev Profit no later than Saturday, April 25.
