Parkway downs Knight v-ball team in 4
Van Wert independent sports
It was a definitely a hard fought battle as the Lady Knights were defeated by the Parkway Panthers in four games, 20-25, 19-25, 25-20 and 18-25. After losing the first two games of the match, the Knights stepped up their game and took the third game from the Panthers. But Parkway was just too much for the Knights in the fourth and deciding game of the match.
“We trailed most of the fourth game and were forced to call timeouts at 4-9 and 16-20,” Coach Tammy Gregory said. “Against a team of that caliber, you can’t give up that many points and expect to get back in the game.
“By that time of the match, I felt we were wasting most of our energy just trying to get back in the game,” she added.
Coach Gregory noted that the Knights did not lose to an average team, by any means.
“Parkway is a solid team with a lot of weapons,” she said. “Balls that I didn’t expect to come back did because of their hustle and extra effort they put into every play.”
The Crestview coach said she enjoys competing against teams at that level, adding that the Knights need to use this as a learning experience to better themselves.
“I commend the girls for the effort they put forth and by not giving up after losing two games straight,” Coach Gregory added.
Crestview will now focus on its next match, the Knights’ Northwest Conference opener at Delphos Jefferson.
With the loss, Crestview is now 4-1 overall.
The Knight junior varsity team was defeated in two games, 22-25 and 21-25 and is now 2-3 overall.
