March primary filing deadline announced

The Van Wert County Board of Elections has announced that the filing deadline for Ohio’s March 6, 2012, presidential primary election will be December 7, 2011, at 4 p.m.

Positions up for election during the primary will be two commissioner seats, county coroner, county engineer, county prosecutor, county recorder, county sheriff and county treasurer, Common Pleas Court judge and county clerk of courts.

Those who want to become a candidate for office are responsible for completing and filing a valid petition for the office sought, paying a non-returnable filing fee and knowing the provisions of law pertaining to their candidacies.

Petitions may be picked up at the Board of Elections office at 120 E. Main St. in Van Wert between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
