The 34th Annual Wassenberg Photography Exhibit opened with a public reception and awards presentation Saturday, October 1, at the Wassenberg Art Center. Twenty-six cash awards and 18 Honorable Mention ribbons were presented by Wassenberg Art Center Director Hope Wallace and Wassenberg Camera Club President Jodi Hattery. These awards were determined by jurors James King and Michael Lambright.

The jurors scattered these 48 items of recognition among 25 of the 45 photographers who entered pictures from as far away as Leesburg, Indiana, to the northwest, Monroeville to the northeast, Wapakoneta to the southeast, and New Bremen to the south.

The refreshments for the evening were created and displayed by Sandy Moore and Nancy Johnson.

Wassenberg Camera Club members received some major awards and/or honorable mentions.  Jodi Hattery won the Wilbur Hartman award in color, the Katy Mounts award in black and white, a first in Animals and a second in Special Effects.  Joshua Hattery won the Wilbur Hartman award for black and white and a second for the black and white John Flagg youth award.  Koty Brewer won the Katy Mounts color award and L.V. Hollis won a second in Night Time.  Honorable mentions went to Rex Dolby in Landscape and to Tracy Sterling in Animals.

The exhibit is open to the public at no charge on Tuesday through Sunday from 1-5 p.m. until Friday, October 28. The Art Center is closed on Mondays. Groups may arrange tours of the exhibit by calling the Art Center at 419.238.6837, or Emailing wassenberg@embarqmail.com.  Sundays during the exhibit will be hosted by Wassenberg Camera Club members.

The Wassenberg Camera Club will next meet on Thursday, October 13, at 7 p.m. at the Wassenberg Art Center.  “Granules” will be the competition theme in prints and slides that evening.
