Elks offer ed. grants

Van Wert Elks Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks  announces that the Ohio Elks Association 2011-2012 Education Grants are available to any prospective student living within the jurisdiction of a Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge in the State of Ohio.  These Grants are available to anyone, regardless of age, who wants to further their career in a technical or vocational type program   Applications are available from the lodge scholarship chairman, Keith Rydell at 419-234-4401 or ksrydell@earthlink.net.   The deadline for filing these applications is February 3, 2012.

Applications for the Elks National Foundation’s 2012 Most Valuable Student contest are also available from the lodge chairman or online at www.elks.org/enf/scholars.   These scholarships are only available to graduating seniors who will be attending a 4 year college or university.   The deadline for filing these applications is December 1, 2011.

Both the Education Grants and the Most Valuable Student application forms have been distributed to the guidance offices at the local schools.

Applicants do not have to be related to a member of the Elks.   Current college students however, are not eligible.

Legacy Awards scholarships applications for children and grand children of Elks are also available.  This contest is open to any high school senior who is the child or grandchild, including steps, or legal ward of an Elk member in good standing for at least two years.  The applicants must apply through the Elks member’s home lodge, regardless of where the applicant resides.   Applications can be obtained from the lodge scholarship chairman or at www.elks.org/enf/scholars/legacy.cfm The deadline for Legacy Awards is February 1, 2012.
