Mary Van Etten

Mary E. “Nana” Van Etten, age 89 of Van Wert passed away at 7:55 AM Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.

She was born January 23, 1922 in Wapakoneta, Ohio to Blanche M. (Bryan) Meier- deceased and Adrian M. Meier- deceased.  She married Thomas D. Van Etten, Jr. who has previously passed.  A brother, Frederick Meier is deceased.  A sister  Drusilda (Terry) Kah- Findlay, Ohio and sister-in-law Dorothy Meier, Wapakoneta, Ohio survive.

Her children are Thomas (Trudy) Webster- Van Wert, Ohio; Sharon (Walter) Poling, Van Wert, Ohio and Patricia (Kraig) Shafer, Cairo, Ohio.  Mary has 7 grandchildren, 24 great and step-great grand children and several surviving nieces and nephews.

She was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Van Wert and had a 30 year career at Aeroquip Corporation.   Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, was a lifelong knitter, also enjoyed traveling and in her younger days, enjoyed dancing with her husband.

Services will be held at 10:30 pm Thursday, October 20, 2011 at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Van Wert with Rev. Will Haggis officiating.  Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.  Friends may call 4:00 pm-8:00pm Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert.  Friends may also call one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
