Bryan A. Stewart

Bryan A. Stewart, 84, of Convoy, died at 9:02 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2011, at Vancrest Health Care Center of Convoy.

He was born October 5, 1927, in Insul, Ky., the son of the late Thomas and Edna (Dupuy) Stewart. On May 5, 1951, he married Frances M. “Fritzi” (Hummel) Stewart, who survives.

Mr. Stewart retired from Aeroquip (Eaton Corporation) in 1991 and had worked at American Hoist and International Harvester in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a member of Convoy United Methodist Church and sang in the choir, as well as sang and played his guitar for many years with various groups and traveled with the Grand Ole Opry to venues across the United States. More recently, he played and sang with Pastor Greg Leigh at area nursing homes, churches and other locations. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Convoy Lions Club.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Lonnie Stewart of Mason and Faron (Janet) Stewart of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Angela (Doug) White of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Cynthia (Dan) Rattray of Shelbyville, Ky.; a brother-in-law, Dave A. Hummel of Convoy; and two grandchildren, Cody White and Alivia White.

A son, Randall Stewart (1961); six brothers; and three sisters, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, at Convoy United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gregory Leigh officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

Calling hours are from 1-8 p.m. Monday, October 24, and an hour prior to services Tuesday, all at the church.

Preferred memorials: Convoy United Methodist Church, Convoy Fire Department and Vancrest Health Care Center of Convoy.
