Activities include dress-up for Halloween and Catholic Schools Week
By Nancy Replogle

Responsibility was the focus for the students’ LIFE skill the past two weeks. The Bible model was Stephen, who had the responsibility of making sure all the widows were treated fairly when food was distributed. Stephen was also the first martyr. Students and staff members chosen as examples of responsibility were: Kourtney Kohnen, Erika Younts, Alexis Miller, Emma Pollock, Connor Pratt, Reece Berryman and the school secretary, Mrs. Anderson.
During Catholic Schools Week, students dressed as a favorite character from the Bible. Many chose to dress as Mary, Noah, Moses, angels and shepherds. More unusual were Queen Esther, Samson, a centurion and Adam!
The fourth grade students at St. Mary of the Assumption School recently studied Columbus and the exploration of the “new world.” Including experience in measurement skills they lined off the “footprint” of his ships on the school’s parking area. They discovered the Santa Maria, only 90 feet long, seemed small for all those

supplies and men.
Each Tuesday during the month of October students at the St. Mary’s School pray the Rosary. One Tuesday, they prayed a “Living Rosary” in the beautiful Prayer Garden. Each student had a particular prayer, and students also prayed in unison.
