VW girl bowlers defeat two opponents
ST. MARYS – The Lady Cougar bowlers competed in St. Marys in two separate matches, first against St. Henry and then Ansonia.
In the first match, Van Wert took a commanding lead of 206 pins in the regular games and continued to add to the pin count in the two baker games.
The Cougars were led by Kylie Allenbaugh, 219 and 168; Britney Myers, 195; Tyler Metzger, 182; and Taylor Beair, 179.
In the second match, Van Wert rolled against the Ansonia Lady Tigers, a new team to the league this year. In that match, the Cougars again took a lead in the regular games, this time by 263 pins, to set the match for the day.
High scores for Van Wert were Tyler Metzger, 192 and 179; and Taylor Beair, 180 and 170.
With the two wins, the Lady Cougars improve to 5-4 on the season.
Like the boys, the Van Wert girls will travel to Coldwater on Saturday to roll against the Lima Central Catholic T-Birds (3-6).
All senior bowlers were also reminded of the 12 essay college scholarships to be awarded, which has a deadline of February 28.
